EXPEDITION LEADER

Marcel Schütz was born and raised in Switzerland.
He has always been passionate about the high Arctic.

His first encounter with the northern polar region was in 2008 during a private excursion to the Svalbard Archipelago.

Captivated by the beauty and vastness of the Arctic, he returned four times before finally relocating to Longyearbyen in 2010.

Over the past 15 years, Marcel has embarked on numerous tours and expeditions on Svalbard, serving as an expedition leader and guide in his own Touroperator company.

In 2021, together with the Swiss Ambassador to Norway and Iceland, Bernard Jaggy, he inaugurated the Swiss Consulate in Svalbard, where he now serves as Honorary Consul of Switzerland.

In 2022 he started his heart project Svalbard Photography AS to offer customized tours in Svalbard, focusing on tourism, research, and logistics. This venture aimed to leverage his extensive experience and deep knowledge of the region to provide specialized and personalized services for visitors and researchers, enhancing their experience of the unique Arctic environment.

Marcel Schütz is an authorized Svalbard guide (SGO) for trips in Svalbard all year around. Recognized by Svalbard Reiselivsråd & Visit Svalbard.
